Fuzei - A Breeze of Feeling
During a sabbatical leave in 1995, I stayed for 3 months in Kyoto, Japan and visited Zen gardens daily. I drew, took photographs, and collected visual information. Upon returning, I did a series of monotypes based on my experiences and visual notes.
While drawing one day, I met an Australian art historian, Fran Nolan, who was doing research on Zen gardens. While having tea outside the gardens, Fran invited me to have an exhibition of works based on my drawings and offered to write a catalogue for the exhibit.
The resulting exhibit, called " Fuzei, A Breeze of Feeling", was shown in Brisbane Australia, Sidney Australia, Los Angeles California, and Hollins University.
